We are a small animal practice in Taunton, first established before the First World War. We are passionate about animal care and our skilled team of veterinarians and vet nurses are dedicated to providing the highest quality care for your animals. Because we love animals and strive to provide excellent continuity of care, we are open six days a week and have access to 24-hour emergency care. For your added convenience, there’s free parking for clients at our surgeries.
Sarah first joined Tone Vets in 1989 and worked for many years with Peter and Giles Morley, Tim Spotswood and John Banham. She left in May 1998 moving north to the Peak District and worked in a veterinary practice near Stockport. She never really settled there though and at the end of 2003 decided to return to her home town of Taunton. Starting back at the surgery, just helping out on a part time basis, she was very happy to be given the opportunity to return to her old position of practice manager in May 2004. Now living in a small hamlet just outside Illminster, she shares her cottage with her partner Geoff and Roger - a very mischievous white cat who has been a patient at the vets more times than she would like! After one episode when Roger was catnapped, in a case of mistaken identity, she strongly recommends that clients get their pet’s microchipped. In her spare time, Sarah is a keen photographer and also enjoys cooking and reading.
Nicki has recently returned to Tone Vets after spending some years working for Volkswagen. Animals are her first love sharing her home with five cats, two dogs and her other half Simon. Nicki is a daughter of a local farmer and shares her father’s passion for the great outdoors and animal welfare. She is delighted to have returned to Tone Vets and being part of a caring animal environment.
Janet has worked at Tone Vets since 1998 and qualified as a veterinary healthcare advisor in 2005. Her hobbies include long walks with her Miniature Schnauzers, Millie and Poppy, spending quality time with her family, card making and reading.
Amanda joined Tone Veterinary Centre as a receptionist in June 2014, having moved back to Somerset from Bristol after leaving university. She worked in a similar position for several years in Bristol and was delighted to find a similar role closer to home. Outside of work, most of her free time is spent looking after her own animals, of which there are currently nine – one dog, seven guinea pigs and a badly behaved tortoise.
Heidi had previously worked for the Morley brothers at the Bridge Street Veterinary Centre for four years before becoming a civil servant. In the last two years she changed her career to that of a dog walker/dog groomer. In April 2015 Heidi joined the team at Tone Vets as a receptionist.
Julie has worked at the practice since October 2011. Julie is a local girl who has previously worked at the County Hotel as a receptionist and Monkton Elm Garden Centre where she opened and managed the coffee shop. In her spare time she enjoys long walks with her dog Oscar and spending quality time with her family.
Liz joined us in October 2017 after working as a retail manager at Monkton Elm Garden Centre, where she ran the Pet and Aquatic Centre for over 20 years. She has owned pets all her life and currently shares her home with four whippets and a Belgian shepherd dog. Liz’s hobbies include art, photography, and dog showing and she is a Kennel Club accredited dog show judge.
